Smith and Corbett led the charge in Heat 1 of the women’s 200m breaststroke, finishing first and second respectively.  Not to be outdone, Pieter Coetzee secured a first-place finish in Heat 2 of the Men’s 200m Backstroke, showcasing his impressive skills and cementing South Africa’s presence in the competition. Born and raised in Namibia, Hotto's life was marked by adversity, but he never let it define him. Growing up in a family of eight, Hotto was the youngest of six siblings. Tragedy struck when his mother passed away in 1999, leaving his father to raise the family alone. Despite the challenges, Hotto's father worked tirelessly as a bus driver to provide for his children. Hotto's early life was marked by struggles in school. He dropped out of grade 10 and found himself on the wrong path, selling sweets and chocolates on the streets, and eventually getting involved in criminal activities.
