Tatjana Smith, Kaylene Corbett, and Pieter Coetzee Make Waves in the Pool
In an impressive display of skill and speed, South African swimmers Tatjana Smith, Kaylene Corbett, and Pieter Coetzee dominated their respective events at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Smith and Corbett led the charge in Heat 1 of the women’s 200m breaststroke, finishing first and second respectively.
Not to be outdone, Pieter Coetzee secured a first-place finish in Heat 2 of the Men’s 200m Backstroke, showcasing his impressive skills and cementing South Africa’s presence in the competition.
ROAD TO THE FINALS
The top 16 swimmers will compete in the semi-finals on July 31, 2024, at 21:51 (SA time). From there, the top 8 will advance to the final showdown on August 1, 2024, at 21:04 (SA time).
DEFENDING CHAMPION TATJANA SMITH
Smith's victory in Heat 1 comes as no surprise, given her impressive track record. She won gold in the same event at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and is determined to repeat her success in Paris.
With their sights set on the semi-finals, Smith and Corbett are ready to take on the world's best swimmers. Will they continue their winning streak and bring home more medals for South Africa? The world will be watching!
