In an electrifying encounter at a packed Orlando Stadium on Saturday, defending champions Orlando Pirates advanced to the semi-finals of the MTN 8 tournament, defeating Supersports United 3-1 in a nail-biting match that went into extra time.

The Buccaneers got off to a flying start, with Olisah Ndah scoring the opening goal in the 49th minute, courtesy of a brilliant assist from Monnapule Saleng. The home side took a 1-0 lead into the half-time break, leaving the visitors eager to find an equalizer.

Supersports United's persistence paid off in the 49th minute of the second half, as former Orlando Pirates player Vincent "Mashonisa" Pule scored a stunning equalizer, sending the match into extra time.

The Pirates came out guns blazing in the first half of extra time, with Kabelo Dlamini providing a pinpoint assist for Saleng to score the go-ahead goal, making it 2-1. The Supersports United goalkeeper's momentary lapse in concentration proved costly in the second half of extra time, as Mokgopa capitalized on the opportunity to seal the win for Orlando Pirates, scoring the third goal.

The match ended 3-1 in favor of the defending champions, who delighted their fans with a scintillating performance. Orlando Pirates' victory sets them up for an exciting semi-final clash, as they continue their quest to retain the MTN 8 title.
