In a scathing memo, Mayibuye Melisizwe Mandela, great-grandson of the late ex-President Nelson Mandela, has demanded urgent attention and action from the Department of Home Affairs regarding the Chidimma Adetshina Miss South Africa controversy. The memo, released on Women's Day, highlights a grave fraudulent activity involving the theft of a South African citizen's identity, implicating Chidimma Adetshina's mother and certain Home Affairs employees.
Mandela emphasized the profound impact on the victim's family, who have suffered for 23 years due to this crime. He called for compensation of at least 23 million South African Rand and accountability through arrest and prosecution of those involved, including Chidimma Adetshina's mother and complicit officials.
Mandela clarified that his call to action targets those involved in the criminal activities, not Chidimma Adetshina herself. He stressed that resolving this matter is crucial for upholding institutional integrity and ensuring justice.
The memo urges the Department of Home Affairs and relevant state organs to act swiftly and decisively to address this issue and restore faith in public institutions. The call to action from Mandela's great-grandson adds significant weight to the demands for justice and accountability in this shocking identity theft saga.
