AmaZulu Royal Crisis
King Misuzulu Sinqobile kaZwelithini born September 1974,Hlabisa KwaZulu Natal. He is the oldest surviving son of King Goodwill Zwelithini and his Great wife Queen Matfombi Dlamini of Eswatini.
His two half sisters Ntandoyenkosi and Ntombizosuthu have questioned the authenticity of a will supposedly that of the late king . Princess Ntandoyenkosi and Ntombizosuthu have alleged that the late King Zwelithini Bhekuzulu Will was forged. The sisters argued in court papers that the late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini had no right or authority to appoint her son as the King of the Zulu nation.
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi issued a Statement on behalf of the Zulu Royal family stating that the new king would be announced after the three month mourning the period for the late King Zwelithini Zulu. Immediately after the death of King Misuzulu's father, majority of people had already predicted that King Misuzulu would be the one who will be appointed to the throne,as he is the son of the late king and the late king Great wife, he didn't grew up at Nongoma Kwakhangelamankengane which gives him an increased of status as it was how it was done to appoint the new king in the Zulu cultural.
Approximately after seven weeks the King was fallen, Queen Regent Mantfombi Dlamini herself lost her life from an unspecified illness. On 7 May 2021 at the public reading of the late Queen's Will, it was emerged that she had appointed his oldest son King Misuzulu as the next king of Zulu nation. The announcement was met with protest from certain members of the Royal family and King Misuzulu was present that day.
On 2 May 2021 media reports revealed that court papers had been filed in the Pietermaritzburg High Court challenging the validity of the late king Will. The high Court's order requires the parties to file additional court papers in both matters by 18 June 2021.
Earlier this month Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi said the King would go to Eswatini for about a week to collect all of his belongings as he would now reside in the kingdom on a full-time basic.Approximately it is unclear that whether the Zulu Royal family will continue with the Coronation before the court decision is finalised. Another Royal member Nhlanganiso entered the fray filling an affidavit in support of the aggrieved sisters.
“So if the signatures on the will that are described as those of my father, are proven to be forged or fraudulent, the will effective become a poison tree, and the fruit on the poison tree are forbidden fruits and as such cannot be enjoyed or eaten, The cost of the coronation will be paid for by the taxpayers. It's undesirable to use taxpayers money knowing well that the process is being challenged. In essence, if the challenge is successful, the taxpayers will be required to pay the second time for the coronation of the king” said princesses in consolidated application.
